If you repeat a lie many times, finally, it'll become a truth. The old story of the Spanish productivity. First of all, I don't think that Spaniards are lazy, despite the fact that the rest of the world believe it so. I think it is a big lie created by the Government and the big companies to pay less than others. Just a stereotype.

The working hours in Spain in 2.007 (1.775),   were for example 23% more than in Germany (1.432), and Spain's productivity it's similar to Holland, Sweden or Italy and, even, higher than in Germany, the U.K. or Japan.
Today, there are procedures in order to know exactly the productivity of a country and the results of the tests are clear enough. The data above was taken from national newspapers.
We have a reputation for being lazy, but it’s only because we know how to live better and enjoy life. I personally find that Fiesta and Siesta legend most misleading, since when there is any work to be done, we just do it.
Therefore, this is the difference. In Spain we work to live, rather than live to work.
